The Belize International Airport (Phillip Goldson International Airport—airport code BZE) is small and easy to navigate. You will disembark your plane directly onto the airport tarmac and will be directed to the terminal building and Immigration. After your passport is stamped, you collect your bags and move through the customs area. The whole process can take up to an hour, but is usually much quicker than that. After completing your check-in, porters are standing in clear view and are ready to assist you with your bags if you wish. Please be aware the porters are not employed by the Airport Authority, they can be pushy and they charge $1US for each bag - you are not obligated to use their services.
Our meeting place/time is at 8:30 am on the first day of your trip at the Belize Biltmore Plaza Hotel at 2.5 mile on the Northern Highway in Belize City. Please be sure you have eaten a good breakfast before meeting us in the lobby with your packed bags. Our driver will transfer your group from here to the dock a few miles away, making a stop at a store for personal supplies along the way. Once the boat is loaded we depart Belize City. We boat out past the main Barrier Reef, through Turneffe Atoll, and on to our Basecamp on Half Moon Caye at Lighthouse Reef Marine Reserve. The transfer to Half Moon Caye typically takes 2 hours during fair weather conditions and longer during inclement weather conditions. It is highly recommended you arrive in Belize City the night before your trip begins. Please be sure you call and check in with our Dangriga, Belize office soon after you arrive to confirm your arrival and the next day rendezvous with our staff - please call 522-3328 upon arrival into Belize.
Return to the Mainland
We depart Half Moon Caye by boat after lunch and usually arrive back in Belize City on the mainland at approximately 5:00pm.
IMPORTANT NOTE: It is advised that any other travel arrangements you have in and around our departure and arrival schedule for Lighthouse Reef should have some time flexibility as weather and other factors can cause some delays in the transfers.
