A great introduction to kayaking in Belize. Easy booking, smooth logistics, great guides, good equipment, excellent food, comfortable lodgings and amazing snorkeling. Can't wait to go back for a longer stay and explore nearby kayaking destinations.
Well if you are looking for adventure in a remote pristine spot you couldn't possibly go wrong. Excellent organization, friendly, and knowledgeable staff.
This is a trip of a life time, worth repeating too! I've done lots of unassisted adventure kayaking, Island Expeditions delivers the experience without me having to do any thing! So if your time is short, this is for you!
A friendly, welcoming staff was our introduction to a week of adventurous activities. The people, the sea, kayaking, snorkeling, paddle boarding, and of course the delicious food were all part of the outstanding time we spent at Glover's Reef.
Thank you for another wonderful vacation. In addition to Glovers, we also went to Bocawina, and Lighhouse Reef. I didn't want to come home and can't wait to come back next year!! The accomodations are perfect, the food is amazing, the guides/staff are so knowedgeable and enthusiastic. Everything was UnBelizable! Thank you!!
We had an amazing time at Glover's Reef---glamping was very fun and staff was absolutely wonderful and eager to please. Unfortunately, the weather was not conducive to really appreciating the natural beauty of the Atoll. I know you can't control the weather, and the staff did all they could to keep us entertained with a walking tour of the island, information sessions, happy hour, etc. We did go snorkeling every day outside the Atoll and that was beautiful---but due to the weather we were unable to kayak or snorkel in the Atoll--which was supposed to be the highlight. The tents held up very well in the rains and thunderstorms (all our belongings stayed dry with all the flaps closed). It was a little scary but also beautiful to watch the thunder! The food was deliciously prepared and the staff was great. I would still highly recommend the experience, with one major upgrade!---you need better boats if the weather is going to be bad!!!! The boat ride on an open boat shell, no cover, in rough seas, bouncing on these hard seats, made for a miserable 1 1/2 hour ride back to the mainland--we were soaking wet despite all of our wearing rain gear, hypothermic, and luckily no one got sick! It would have made a huge difference in a better boat! We still had a great time and our fellow travelers and staff were great.....and a part of me wants to go back and snorkel in the Atoll,.....but unless you get a better boat I'm not taking my chances!
We had an amazing trip! The guides were very knowledgeable, there was a variety of activities, the food was delicious and the accommodations were awesome. We absolutely hated leaving! Thanks for the great time!
Outstanding guides! They did everything possible to make my trip very fun and safe and they shared there lives and goals with me and the history of Belize. Very impressed with the ecology of the camp and great tent cabins.
We were both 'newbies' to the world of snorkeling and our guides - Bernaldo and Spencer - gave us great tips and directions to get us started and to enhance our experience. My husband was quite resistant to the idea of snorkeling, but we both really enjoyed the experience. This was a direct result of the leadership, encouragement and fun that our guides exemplified. We were very impressed with the attention to details and safety. Both guides checked in with us on numerous occasions while we were snorkeling to make sure we were comfortable, and to answer any questions or concerns that we may have had.
Our guides were the perfect storm of personable, fun and professional. The organization aned logistics ran like clockwork without feeling rushed. Kelly, the fly-fishing guide, and Jaime were great too. So impressed with everything about Island Expeditions and I hope I have the pleasure of joining another trip with you.
I cannot say enough about how accommodating the cooks were in regard to food preferences and allergies. They were awesome!
Never having done a 'long-haul' holiday before, we were a bit apprehensive about how everything would work out. We needn't have worried. The help we had from Island Expeditions and the reassurance that we were well taken care of helped us both to have a wonderful holiday and the adventure of a lifetime. Thank you to everybody who helped that to happen!
Our guides were cheerful, helpful, patient and kind. They wanted to make sure we were having the holiday we wanted - "Mike" introduced us to stand up paddle boarding and gave us a thorough introduction and was very understanding and patient. "Mike and Omar" had extensive knowledge of the fish and coral of the reef and were keen to pass on their knowledge and help us to identify lots of different types of both.
The whole trip was conducted with safety as the primary concern, but in no way did this stop the fun and the challenge. It just helped to make us feel confident, secure and able to relax and enjoy.
An excellent three day getaway on the water to balance time on the mainland; snorkelling in the reef every day plus kayaking, paddle boarding, even kayak sailing. Wonderful sounds of the ocean and a full sky of stars, good sharing the experiences and delicious meals with new friends and excellent, knowledgeable staff.
We really had a great time. Permanent tents with spectacular views were fine. We had trade winds most of the time which kept the heat down. They were a little warm when the wind stopped. Food here was better than most of what we had in Belize, amazing how they do that on an island. The snorkeling and kayak sailing was great. The guides were fun and helpful. The Garifuna drumming night was a wonderful surprise of drumming and dancing! That was so much fun I will never forget it.
We had such an amazing time on our Glovers Getaway trip. Island Expeditions arranged everything for us before our trip (Maya Air flight, hotel stay), and we didn't have to worry about a thing. We met the group at their office in Dangriga, and everyone was very professional and very nice. The boat ride to Glovers was very fun, a little bumpy which added to the excitement. We met the cooks and our guides when we arrived at Glovers. Everyone was so nice, professional, and very organized! The activities were very well organized and the guides would help us out with any special questions or requests. I have a restricted diet, and the cooks were able to accommodate me which was such a relief! The snorkeling, kayaking, and sail kayaking were absolutely amazing. While snorkeling, the guide would point out certain fish or marine life, which was great for novices like us. We had a yoga instructor on our trip (Jill) and she was spectacular. We enjoyed yoga every morning we were on Glovers. The camping facilities were much better than I expected and very comfortable. We joined this trip with the Wild South tour with Island Expeditions, and it was also fantastic. We would highly recommend Island Expeditions to anyone looking for an adventurous, organized, and wonderful trip to always remember!!
Very Good! Every guide was excellent - organized, good vibes and totally on top of things. Outstanding food (and we are food snobs).
Very Good! Glover's reef - complete and utter perfection, please do not change a single thing. I'm extremely impressed with the trip, the company, Belize, the whole nine yards - and can't wait to go back!
