10 Bucket List Items to Check Off on Your Trip to Belize

Spot a Jaguar in Belize

Belize is a stunning and diverse country where there is enough to satisfy a lifetime's worth of adventure. To inspire you and give you some ideas for your own Belize itinerary, Island Expeditions’ team of travel experts has selected 10 experiences that should be on your bucket list.

1. Spot a Jaguar

Visit Belize's Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary and Jaguar Preserve to explore the trails and view wildlife in the world’s first Jaguar Preserve. A visit to the Jaguar Preserve may likely provide you with signs of jaguar activity, but it is unlikely that you will spot the elusive Jaguar. We suggest a visit to the wonderful Belize Zoo - home to the rehabilitated, orphaned and rescued wildlife of Belize. Here you can see one of Belize's most beloved Jaguars - Junior Buddy.

We visit the remote Mayan village of Santa Teresa on our Epic Belize trip. Learn how to make traditional corn tortillas from scratch. The massa is then placed in a large waha leaf (a large, flat leaf) and then boiled like a tamale.
