We always get lots of great questions about Glover’s Reef Atoll, so we put together some of the key facts and information where you can quickly find out more about one of our most popular vacation destinations in Belize.

Where is Glover’s Reef Atoll?

Glover’s Reef Atoll is an elliptical shaped reef measuring 20 miles long by 7 miles wide and located almost 40 miles offshore from the Belize mainland.

Meals and Accommodation at Glover’s Reef

Our Glover’s Reef Basecamp is located on the east side of Southwest Caye, to take advantage of the easterly trade winds that blow off the Caribbean Sea. To the back of the camp there is a shared modern composting toilet system, as well as a central shower building with fresh-water showers. The safari style tents are aligned along the eastern point to take in the cooling ocean  breeze.

The Basecamp is run primarily on solar and wind generated energy, with a small generator to supplement or recharge batteries when necessary. The dining pavilion is the center of all social activities and meals on the island. There is a resource library, games, and always drinks and juices on hand when you are thirsty.

Perched over the water, there is a thatch-roofed hammock palapa, which is a great spot to read a book and enjoy the breeze. This is a perfect area for early morning yoga sessions, or a place to get out of the sun in a nice covered environment.

All meals are included at our Glover’s Reef Basecamp. Both Belizean and International cuisine are prepared by our guides and cooks. Many of our main courses such as lobster (in season), conch and many varieties of fish are gathered fresh from the sea each day.

Exploring Glover’s Reef

Glover's Reef Atoll is thought to be the richest marine environment in the entire Caribbean Sea. Within Glover's Reef is a shallow lagoon with over 700 patch reefs.  This lagoon is unsurpassed for snorkeling, sea kayaking, Stand-Up-Paddleboarding, Scuba diving and fishing. All activities are included when staying at our Glover’s Reef Basecamp.

This allows our guides to share their vast knowledge of Belize, its unique marine environments, and the local culture with you. If you prefer a more leisurely pace can always take time to kick back in a hammock and relax with a good book.
