A Week in Paradise
We had a wonderful stay at Tobacco Caye Paradise. The parent company (Island Expeditions) communicated clearly regarding logistics such as getting to the island and getting back to the mainland and airport and assisted in setting this up. We had great snorkeling adventures right outside our cabana and around the island, including the guided night snorkel. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Meals were plentiful, varied, and delicious. Having a cabana with a balcony over the water allowed us to watch rays and other marine life right from our accommodation. Cabanas are quaint and, as advertised, there aren't any amenities such as television (no problem for us), but washrooms were very clean and staff changed our towels and bedding regularly. When we first arrived, we wondered if we would be able to fill a whole week there, but had no problem doing so. The time went too quickly. Lynn was particularly pleased with the amount of underwater photography she was able to do in the crystal-clear waters. We highly recommend Tobacco Caye Paradise and will be recommending it to friends.

Rustic Remote Island Experience
Tobacco Caye Paradise is one of three resorts on the tiny island of Tobacco Caye, a 30-minute boat ride from Dangriga, Belize. Getting here is an adventure - a 15-minute, 20-passenger Cessna flight from BZE, the international airport in Belize City. Then catch a taxi to meet your boat (ask the Tobacco Caye Paradise office for info about cost and timing) at the Dangriga Docks. If you're early for the boat, the Island Breeze Grill is across the road.
Be prepared for sand in everything, no a/c, no hot water, and extremely limited wifi. Also be prepared for gorgeous sunrises and sunsets, fantastic meals with other guests, overwater cabanas with a hammock on your porch, and friendly pups looking for pets and play.
Snorkel on your own, book a guided boat dive or just chill in a shady hammock. The sound of the conch shell tells you it's meal time. Join other guests at the breezy, covered dining table on the ocean for buffet-style meals.
Bring your own refillable water bottle for unlimited filtered water (or use their glasses if you forget) and fill a water pitcher to take back to your room. Coffee and tea are available at meals, other drinks and between-meal snacks are for sale.
Don't forget water shoes - most of the water entry points are a little pebble-y. Leave your flip-flops on the porch if you want. The entire island is sand :-)
Rooms are rustic to say the least, but you're only sleeping there. Don't expect a hotel room!
A big standing fan keeps you fairly cool at night and water lapping under your cabana lulls you to sleep. It's one step up from camping, with the Caribbean all around you!

Most relaxing stay EVER!
Exactly as described. Peaceful, relaxing, great snorkeling, meals provided, friendly and helpful staff. Sleeping in the cabana with the metal roof and the rain at night- not to mention the ocean breeze- was heaven! Very clean, good food (and plenty of it), and unbeatable views. Loved watching the rays swim by (and under) our porch. If you are looking for a place to do nothing but relax, this is it! Of course snorkeling, hammock hanging, reading and 2 bars on the island are always options as well.

Amazing setting. One of our favorite places in Belize
We really loved the setting of this place – we wish we could’ve staying longer. The park is a great place to walk around and explore with plenty of great trails and some unexcavated Mayan ruins. The lodge grounds are beautiful and a great place to explore, especially at night.
Check-in was fast and friendly, the efficient and friendly Kayla taking very good care of us. We stayed in a duplex unit, the Green Parrot, which was basic but comfortable and clean. There was no AC, however they did provide a number of fans that kept us cool in the night – no problems sleeping. The room was a bit dark, mainly due to the large screened veranda attached to the front. The bathroom was tiny, really a one-person-at-a-time affair. There was no TV but we did have a great Wifi connection in the room. The onsite restaurant was excellent. We had a great dinner, mainly local Belizean fare, and a great breakfast burrito as well.
Overall we had an amazing stay at Bocawina and would highly recommend this place to other travelers to the beautiful park.

Travel to Another World ...
We had a great adventure in the jungle / tropical rainforest of Belize at Bocowina. We saw howler monkeys, a Toucan, parrots, kinkajoos, lots of other animals, birds and amazing tropical rainforest foliage. It was a glimpse into another world for us, city-dwellers from the US (tho we are avid hikers in the Pacific NW temperate rainforest). The accommodations are basic but clean and comfortable - fans, no air conditioning (eco-resort). The meals are delicious, not fancy but good Belizean home cooking upscaled for the tourists. The guides are amazing - knowledgeable locals. We loved the zip-lining, the guided birdwatching, a hike to the waterfalls, and the night jungle walk (a bit scary). It was a great balance of adventure with feeling cared for and well supported.

A Fun Adventure in the Rainforest
My son and I stayed for two nights at the Bocawina Rainforest Resort and had a fantastic time. They picked us up from where we were staying in Hopkins and drove us into the rainforest. We got there early enough to do a guided hike to lower Bocawina Falls before dinner. Dinner on both nights was buffet style and quite delicious. Although our room was not air-conditioned and it was hot outside, it was cool enough with the fan that it was quite comfortable. We stayed in the Howler Monkey room. We did a guided hike up Antelope Falls the morning of our second day which was tough but worth it and the place to swim once we climbed all the way up was cool and refreshing. Our hiking guide was very nice and knowledgeable. We did ziplining in the afternoon which was very fun. On our last day before breakfast, we did a hike to the New Falls without a guide but it was a little longer than we expected/advertised on the map so we turned around before making it all the way to the falls because we didn't want to miss breakfast. Overall it was a lovely stay and all the staff was so nice and helpful and really watched out for us. We felt safe and well cared for the whole time. Highly recommended.
